This class will build a great foundation for quilting. In every class we will play with color. We will start with the fundamentals: hand piecing, accurate rotary cutting, machine piecing, appliqué, how to set the blocks in rows, attaching borders, batting and binding. This quilt will be hand quilted and there will be homework. 40-1/2" x 40-1/2" wall hanging.

Intermediate Quiltmaking

This is a skills builder series of lessons and really great for anyone who wants to gain more confidence in their skills. You will use your sewing machine, learning color study, fusible applique, appliquilting, setting blocks on point, piping, scalloped borders,and machine quilting borders.

Fine Hand Quilting - That Perfect Stitch

Machine Quilting Made Easy

So many tops and so little time! Machine quilting can be quicker than hand quilting and still beautiful. Battings and basting as well as straight line and free motion are taught. We will work on a muslin sandwiched sample and then quilt a little Pre-Printed Holiday Wreath Mini-Whole Cloth quilt. You must be user friendly with your machine and a walking foot and darning foot are required.

SHARON'S APPLIQUE ACADEMY-PART 1

The Applique Academy will consist of 4 parts each being one of the blocks in the quilt and can stand along to make just a wall hanging. Each block will have 3 - 4 ways different ways to applique, useful tools, and applique tips and tricks. Part 1 will be "Poppys" 20" x 20" finished block. Techniques included are: Tiny Stems, 1/8" Bias Bar Stems, applique off the block and basted units, freezer paper on the top, reversible and basic needleturn and will cover lots of different shapes. We will play with color and values all through this series and use up some of that stash you have been holding on to.

This is a club that will meet the fourth Wed. each Month beginning in January. Learn embroidery stitches and work on a wonderful Crabapple Hill Studio pattern called "Tea Party". Bring your 9" square block traced before you come to class so we can use our time stitching this pretty, cottage garden tea party as we have a cup of tea, a yummy recipe (from the pattern!) and some chocolate.
